Follow Friday #5

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?
 
A: Not necessarily. Many YA novels have had similar ideas, such as fallen angels, vampires, werewolves, demons, faeries, etc. Each has it's own story, which to me is all that matters. I adore retellings! :)

    Same. I don't mind if elements are the same, as long as the story itself is different! :)

    Good answer - the elements themselves have all been used, it's how the writer incorporates them that matters.

    I agree completely! I don't mind those similarities! I just don't want to read the exact same book/storyline twice from two different people. There has to be noticeable differences!

    As long as the story stands out and isn't an exact repeat of another one, I don't mind retellings at all.
