Follow Friday #5

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

A: Not necessarily. Many YA novels have had similar ideas, such as fallen angels, vampires, werewolves, demons, faeries, etc. Each has it's own story, which to me is all that matters. I adore retellings! :)

Comment below with you're FF post and whether or not you're a new follower so I can follow you back. :)

  1. Same. I don't mind if elements are the same, as long as the story itself is different! :)

  2. Good answer - the elements themselves have all been used, it's how the writer incorporates them that matters.

  3. I agree completely! I don't mind those similarities! I just don't want to read the exact same book/storyline twice from two different people. There has to be noticeable differences!

  8. I agree, some things kind of have to be similar. But blatant copying is really not my cup of tea.

  9. As long as the story stands out and isn't an exact repeat of another one, I don't mind retellings at all.

Thanks for stopping by! New Linky follower.
